• examine the module outline and determine how you wish to work through the material
• begin your study program by reading quickly through all of the material to familiarise yourself with the content of the module
• select a starting point, read a section of the material, and think about its implications
• carry out the learning activities within the learning materials
• follow up any links which are provided to other parts of the module or to outside references
• make notes about the key issues using the learning outcome for that section as a guide
• try the self-testing exercise for that section, and check your understanding of the material
• when you feel comfortable about that section, move on to another section and repeat the process
