8. What are communication tools?

Communication tools are the best way to discuss course learning pathway.

  1. What are discussions?

    "Discussion" is a place where messages can be posted for public display. Discussion may also be called a bulletin board or a forum.

                        

    In SZABIST Online System, Discussion is the main tools and topics are the items to be discussed.

    A discussion can be used:

    • as a place where student can discuss general issues
    • to discuss case studies or learning material with lecturer/instructor
    • to post general messages from the lecture
    • to organize related discussion

    When you select the Discussion tool, by click on the menu link or Discussion icon at communication page, you will be taken to a course discussion topic listing window.

    Click on the Topic, for example course content to see the postings.

    To post a new message click on "Create New Thread" button.



    View and Reading Messages

    To view a posted message, click on the thread reply as shown below. To reply any message click "Reply this" or "[Reply]" link.



    Don’t be shy! Use the Discussion tool to ask your questions.

    You may also be able to provide some answers, comments, or suggestion to other students.

  2. How do I chat online?

    With online chat you can ‘talk’ to other students and instructor while you are online.

    Chatting conversation is logged. This is to allow the private rooms to be used for assessment (i.e. group work or brainstorming)



    You can chat to students online. They may even be on the other side of world.

    Be aware that unnecessary chat in a crowded chat room may be very disruptive.
